If you play PVZ Fusion English Android, you might have noticed something frustrating: the game keeps talking about version 4.0.5.2, while English builds sat on 4.0 for weeks. That changed on October 20, 2026 — English Android now has 4.0.5 as a prerelease. Only the small 4.0.5.2 hotfix is still missing in English, and there is still no English Android 4.0.5.2 build.
Here is exactly what is going on, what you are missing, and what you can actually do about it.
The Short Answer
English Android players can now move up to 4.0.5 — as a prerelease. silvershadowkat’s newest build is v4.0.5-release-3 (October 22, 2026) — the latest English Android prerelease of the 4.0.5 line, adding in-place updates that keep your save, a music selector and wider runtime translation. Heagon’s latest actual release is still 3.9. English Android 4.0.5.2 still does not exist as of October 22, 2026.
PC players are already on 4.0.5.2. Teyliu’s English multi-language patch for PC is updated to base game 4.0.5.2 and available now.
The good news: 4.0.5.2 is a small hotfix, not a new game. Version 4.0.5 is a patch on top of 4.0, and 4.0.5.2 is a tiny hotfix on top of that. If you are on English Android 4.0, you already have the vast majority of the game.

⚠️ Watch out for this trap: heagon’s README page says “Plants vs. Zombies: Fusion 4.0.5.2 — English (Android)” and tells you to download a 4.0.5.2 APK from Releases. That APK does not exist in Releases. The Releases page only shows 3.9 and 3.8.1. Always check the Releases page, not the README title.
What 4.0.5 Added
Version 4.0.5 shipped on October 1, 2026 as a National Day special update. Here is what it added:

Note: These plant names are descriptive translations of the Chinese update notes, not confirmed official English names.

- Tidal Conch — skin for Ultimate Pitcher (requires completing its skin challenge)
- Autumn Moonlight — skin for Ultimate Moon God Cabbage (requires completing its skin challenge)
Story & Modes
- Alpha Diary completed — the remaining storyline content, plus an adjusted Snowy Night: Day 6
- Magic Brush Ma Liang — new mode: draw the plant you want as accurately as possible
- World Map Tower Defense returns
- Super Custom Levels — many new features plus a usage guide
3 Balance Changes
- Travel Curse shop trait prices now increase progressively, with an additional increase when buying expensive traits
- Ultimate Torch provides a smaller damage bonus to Reignited Pea
- Blazing Coiling Dragon Pot now gives Cherry Shooter a fixed 10% attack-speed bonus without requiring the True Cherry Bomb trait
The update also greatly reduced the game’s install size and fixed known bugs (no itemised bug list was published).
What 4.0.5.2 Actually Is
Version 4.0.5.2 is a hotfix released around October 3, 2026. It contains exactly two documented changes:
- Fixes a critical bug: Professor Cherryz could infinitely revive
- Adds a bugged, work-in-progress Ball Cactus fusion (Cactus + Puff-shroom) — explicitly unfinished and buggy
That is it. Two items. 4.0.5.2 is not a content drop — it is a small hotfix on top of a patch. Do not let the version number make the gap feel bigger than it is.
What You Are Actually Missing on Android 4.0
If you are on English Android 4.0, here is the concrete list of what you do not have yet:
- Plants: Ice Threepeater, Floating Chomper, Giant Spike King, Super Gatling Gloom-shroom
- Skins: Tidal Conch and Autumn Moonlight (both behind skin challenges)
- Story: Completed Alpha Diary + adjusted Snowy Night: Day 6
- Modes: Magic Brush Ma Liang, World Map Tower Defense, expanded Super Custom Levels
- Balance: You are playing on pre-4.0.5 rules (old Travel Curse pricing, old Ultimate Torch bonus, old Blazing Coiling Dragon Pot behaviour)
- Bug fix: The Professor Cherryz infinite-revive bug is NOT fixed on 4.0
What you are NOT missing: all of 4.0’s big content. Version 4.0 was the huge update — 20+ snowfield plant fusions, Commando fusions, Elemental Synergy combos, the Cavalry Marshal rework, and the Gods Evolution minigame. The gap is real but it is a patch-sized gap, not a game-sized one — and it just shrank: every 4.0.5 item above is now playable in English via the 4.0.5 prerelease (v4.0.5-release-3). Only the small 4.0.5.2 hotfix remains out of reach for now.
What Should PVZ Fusion English Android Players Do?
There is no single right answer. Here are your four realistic options:
Option 1: Keep Playing English Android 4.0 (Best for Most Players)
The game is complete. 4.0.5 is a patch, not a new game. No reinstall, no save risk, no Chinese UI. The downside: no 4.0.5 plants or modes. An English 4.0.5 prerelease now exists (Option 4), but staying on 4.0 needs no reinstall and carries no prerelease risk.
Option 2: Play PC English via Teyliu’s 4.0.5.2 Patch (Best If You Have a PC)
Available right now. The patch brings English to the 4.0.5.2 base game on PC. See our English Version guide for download links and setup. Caveats: it is PC only, some content is not yet translated (The Gods: Evolved and its almanac, Super Level Editor guides, Custom Online Levels), and you need MelonLoader plus a clean folder path (no non-English characters). PC and Android saves are separate — progress does not sync between them.
Option 3: Play Chinese 4.0.5.2 Android (Newest Version on Phone)
A Chinese 4.0.5.2 Android build exists. The downside: the entire UI is in Chinese. If you switch builds, you may need to uninstall first (different signing keys) — back up your save before you do anything.
Option 4: Move Up to the English 4.0.5 Prerelease
silvershadowkat’s newest is v4.0.5-release-3 (October 22, 2026). It is a prerelease, so expect rough edges — but release-3 now installs updates in place without wiping your save (moving up from release-2 needs a one-time save transfer). Back up your save first anyway (see below). Our Download page still hosts the stable 4.0 build; the prerelease is on silvershadowkat’s GitHub Releases page. Only 4.0.5.2 remains unreleased in English — no ETA has been announced for it.
What does NOT solve the gap: Running an Android emulator on PC just runs the same Android builds — no English Android 4.0.5.2 exists to run. Mod-menu APK mirrors are not clean English builds — they add cheat features and carry repack risk. We do not recommend them.
Before You Update or Switch Builds: Back Up Your Save
One file = your whole profile. There is no cloud save. Your local save file is the only copy.
On Android, your save is at:
/sdcard/Android/data/com.LanPiaoPiao.PlantsVsZombiesRH/files/playerData.json
Copy playerData.json (plus the LevelData folder if present) somewhere safe before you uninstall anything. Uninstalling deletes the save — that is the dangerous moment, not the update itself.
- Updating within the same build family (e.g. English to English within one project) is safe — it installs over the top and keeps saves automatically.
- Switching between differently-signed builds (e.g. Chinese to English, or one translator’s build to another’s) requires an uninstall. Back up first, install the new build, launch once to the menu, close it fully, then copy
playerData.jsonback into thefilesfolder. - Do NOT restore: the
il2cppfolder (cache, regenerated automatically),global-metadata.dat,data.unity3d, translation files, or the whole old directory. Restore ONLY the save files. - On Android 11+, the built-in Files app usually cannot open other apps’
Android/datafolders. Use MT Manager, ZArchiver, MiXplorer, your phone maker’s Files app, or adb. No root needed.
On PC, your save is at C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\LocalLow\LanPiaoPiao\PlantsVsZombiesRH. Back up the entire folder before updating. PC saves carry over on reinstall.

No — 4.0.5.2 itself is still not out in English. But the picture changed on October 20, 2026, when the first English Android build of 4.0.5 arrived as a prerelease; the newest is now v4.0.5-release-3 (October 22, 2026), which adds in-place updates that keep your save. 4.0.5.2 remains PC and Chinese-only for now.
Will my save survive an update?
Your save is stored separately from the app, so updating does not normally erase it. On Android the save sits in the game’s data folder as playerData.json; on PC it is under the LocalLow folder. Back it up before any update so a failed install cannot cost you your progress.
Can I play 4.0.5.2 on my phone in English?
